On April 27, BHEF launched the One Campaign in an attempt to raise $1 million in one week to save BHUSD teaching, counseling, special education and custodial staff positions. One hundred percent of donations will directly support faculty and staff salaries. On Friday, Menchie’s frozen yogurt will be on sale at Beverly Vista from 2 to 3:30 p.m. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit the One Campaign. On Thursday and Friday, the yogurt shop, located at 9609 South Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills, will donate 20 percent of yogurt sales to BHUSD schools. Customers should mention Beverly Vista to the cashier, and do not have to be affiliated with the school.
Last Monday, Michael Nourmand, President of Nourmand & Associates Realtors in Beverly Hills, announced he would match funds up to $20,000 for donations made by his agents. “I thought it was a good way for our agents to get involved in the community and also just to show that our community supports local schools,” Nourmand said. “It’s hard to find good public schools from K-12 in the greater LA area. ”Nourmand graduated from Beverly High and his wife Michelle Nourmand, also a Beverly High graduate, teaches third grade at Hawthorne. Nourmand said a number of his agents have had children go through BHUSD schools.
