The longtime home of actor and early television show host Jack Carter has sold in Beverly Hills for $5.825 million.
Built in 1926, the classic Spanish-style house is set behind walls on a third-acre flat lot.
Original details are evident outside and in. Colorful tile risers adorn the foyer stairway, which features an ornate wrought-iron banister. Beamed ceilings and arched doorways continue the style throughout the home.
A high-ceiling living room with a brick fireplace, formal dining room, six bedrooms and five bathrooms are with the 4,494 square feet of living space. A bay window in the breakfast room looks out onto the backyard.
A swimming pool, detached garage, motor court, mature trees and lawn complete the grounds.
Carter, who died this year at 93, was an actor and comedian on Broadway and television. He hosted the TV variety show “Cavalcade of Stars” and later had his own show. Last year he appeared in the series “Shameless” and in the movie “Mercy,” based on a Stephen King tale.
The house previously sold in 1977 for $80,000 and listed this fall at $5.995 million.
Adam Sires and Jill Epstein, both with Nourmand & Associates, represented the buyer.
